Glass Mountain are about to unveil their new single, which means it is time to rejoice. Maybe.

The four-piece band, hailing from Bradford, will be releasing their new double A-side single on March 17th, which follows in the wake of their Glacial EP, boating the songs ‘Cowboy Song’ and ‘More Than This’.

With its delicate floaty vibe, Cowboy Song, which has been in the band’s live set for a number of months now, soars along, possessing melancholic depth, giving the track heart, soul and real emotion.

More Than This is a cover version of the classic 1982 song by Roxy Music. Harry Hanson’s vocals are strangely put through a distortion filter, rendering his voice to an almost dream-like whisper. Covers of More Than This are ten-a-penny, but credit for picking such a wonderful piece of music to have a stab at to put your own unique slant on it.

However, it’s all too dreary and depressing, plodding along, making me instantly want to hear the original, which incidentally I put on seconds after finishing Glass Mountain’s muddled efforts – A good cover version shouldn’t make you want to do that, but unfortunately this manages that feat rather easily.

One good, rather epic original song in the bag, which is one the band can be proud of, alongside one largely forgettable cover.
