Formed in 2008 in San Diego, guitarists Mario Camarena and Erick Hansel, along with drummer Nathan Camarena and bassist Esiah Camarena started creating exciting progressive rock. They’ll be releasing their third, eponymously titled, album in June.

Chon have shared their new single Petal, the second single from the soon to be released new album. The album will be Chon’s third and will be released via Sumerian records on 7 June 2019.

Chon’s debut full-length, 2015’s Grow, established their mathy, forward-thinking take on the genre. While there 2017 sophomore album, Homey, furthered that sound while incorporating brand-new influences like effect-pedal-heavy elements of electronic music and trip-hop and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart.

With the new album, CHON, the band once again kicks down their musical guardrails, however, still balances their more eccentric impulses with a steadying dose of clarity and restraint. The album respects the band’s current listeners while inviting a broader swath of new ones in — the rare progressive rock album adroit enough to straddle that line.

We’ll also be able to enjoy the new material live when Chon tour the UK this September. Ticket are on sale now from the usual retailers including See Tickets.
