Florence + the Machine Premiere South London Forever (Live At The Joiner Arms)

Florence + the Machine has premiered a live video for ‘South London Forever’ (recorded at The Joiner Arms), a stunning highlight from new album ‘High As Hope’.

‘High As Hope’ was also recently nominated for 2018’s prestigious Hyundai Mercury Prize (Florence’s third nomination of her career), with the winner crowned on Thursday September 20th.

The affecting live visual for ‘South London Forever’ was captured during Florence’s surprise album-launch show at The Joiner Arms in Camberwell: an emotional homecoming which saw Florence finish the night dancing with fans who had queued around the block to get in. The video for ‘South London Forever’ is a fitting love-letter to those people and places who made you who you are.

Released this summer on Virgin EMI, ‘High As Hope’ already has the feel of a career-defining moment for Florence (and has suitably earned her the strongest praise of her career from fans and media alike). Featuring the anthemic single ‘Hunger’, ‘Sky Full Of Song’, and ‘Big God’, Florence started writing the record (which is also the first she has officially co-produced) in solitude in South London: routinely cycling to her studio in Peckham everyday to, as she puts it, “bang on the wall with sticks”. She took the songs to Los Angeles with her friend and co-producer Emile Haynie, opening them up along the way for collaboration with the likes of Kamasi Washington, Sampha, Tobias Jesso Jr, Kelsey Lu and Jamie xx. Florence mixed the record in New York, where the daily, reassuring view of that iconic skyline – often in stark contrast to the chaos of the wider world – gave the album its upbeat title.

Florence + the Machine’s huge ‘High As Hope Tour’ began earlier this month, with the UK leg – including two shows at London’s O2 Arena – as follows:

November 15 || Leeds, First Direct Arena
November 16 || Birmingham, Genting Arena
November 17 || Glasgow, The SSE Hydro
November 19 || Dublin, 3 Arena
November 21 || London, The O2
November 22 || London, The O2
November 23 || Manchester, Manchester Arena
November 25 || Brighton, Brighton Centre
November 26 || Cardiff, Motorpoint Arena

Always loved music live, enjoy all genre's. Adding photography into the mix has been more recent and enjoying combing the two together. Self confessed vinyl junkie, so if not down the front, often found searching through record shops.
