Manchester Post-Punks LIINES Announce Summer Dates

in Gigs

Announced last month, LIINES play their biggest headline gig to date at Manchester’s legendary The Deaf Institute on 21 July, with London trio BERRIES and Manchester newcomers Threads.

Over half the tickets have sold – their last headline gig, at Night People in March, sold out ahead of time. Tickets for the Deaf Institute show are available via alt. tickets and more information can be found on the event page.

LIINES have already hit some incredible milestones in 2018 – recording a Radio X X-Posure session for John Kennedy, as well as headlining his showcase in London; supporting Hot Snakes and The Membranes – the latter at the legendary Manchester o2 Ritz. As well as playing storming sets at Dot to Dot Festival in Manchester and Nottingham.
LIINES debut album Stop-Start, released through Reckless Yes records, has sold out on limited edition white vinyl (only available at gigs, on CD and digitally) after rave reviews and national play on Radio X, BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing:
⭐⭐⭐⭐“A very promising debut” Q Magazine
“We cannot recommend this record enough” AltCorner
“A truly impressive debut” Get In Her Ears
“‘Stop-Start’ is a supremely enjoyable listen from start to finish.” Tom Tom Magazine
“A powerful magnificent statement and the perfect capture of everything that LIINES are about.” Even The Stars

LIINES are a prominent band in the post-punk / new-wave scene, with comparisons ranging from Savages to PINS to Desperate Journalist. Their sound is an infectious, urgent and at times furious blend of Riot Grrrl, post-punk and alt-rock sounds which take in elements of their collective influences. There’s the dark angular undertones and brooding introspection of Joy Division, the high energy of Pixies and the emotive, impassioned sound of Sleater-Kinney wrapped in catchy fast-paced riff-laden songs.
With a lyrical depth and stirring vocal delivery that matches the visceral music, the songs of LIINES revolve around raw themes of loss, obsession and emptiness, and are a product of introspection. As vocalist Zoe McVeigh explains: “I love a band that gives everything, and a singer who feels every single word.” Limited copies of the album are available on vinyl, and pre-orders are being taken for a digipak CD via bandcamp. Stop-Start can also be streamed and downloaded via all major platforms including Spotify.

To date LIINES has garnered support from (among others) Radio X (John Kennedy), BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music (Tom Robinson), Amazing Radio, Team Rock, Gigslutz, Louder Than War, Collapse Board and The Quietus.
LIINES debut album Stop – Start was written by Zoe McVeigh (vocals/guitar), Leila O’Sullivan (drums) and former member Steph Walker (bass) who has since been replaced by Tamsin Middleton who has been playing in LIINES since May 2017. The album was recorded at Unit 13 Studios, London and produced, mixed and mastered by Paul Tipler (Elastica, Idlewild, Placebo, Stereolab). It is released on limited white label vinyl and digitally on 4 May 2018 via Reckless Yes Records.

Always loved music live, enjoy all genre's. Adding photography into the mix has been more recent and enjoying combing the two together. Self confessed vinyl junkie, so if not down the front, often found searching through record shops.
