Five in Five With: Otherkin

in Interviews by

Otherkin have just released their debut album ‘OK’ which was the featured album on Huw Stephens’ Radio 1 show, and have been added to huge Rock playlists on Spotify, such as ‘Walk Like A Badass’ and ‘Rock United’.

They’ve had an impressive year leading up to the album release – playing with Guns N Roses, Dead Kennedys, The Amazons, as well as huge sets at Download Festival, Reading & Leeds, Electric Picnic, to name a few, and Lars Ulrich of Metallica is a fan, to top it all off!

Today we caught up with Otherkin to rattle through our new set of five in five questions…

1, What has been your biggest f@ck up on stage? Where was it, what song was it how was it received by fans? Haha, there’ve been a few. Two in particular, that involve our singer Luke where he introduced our band as ‘Hi, we’re Dublin from Otherkin’ during the first song of our set. Another was when he jumped off the bass drum during a gig and fell pretty bad on the ground, I think the audience got a good laugh out of it.

2, You’re changing the band’s name to your favorite fruit + the reason you last took pain killers. Your new band name is… ? Banana Hangover

3, How can we collectively put an end to online ticket touting? Feel free to show your working out for extra points… Tickets are allocated to people who have to take a quiz on the artist they want to see, whoever scores the highest without using the internet get priority. That’d be really hilarious, I’d love to see a load of people taking a test in a school hall battling it out for Marilyn Manson tickets.

3, What would your Music Super Power be and what other band would you use it on and why? My music super power would be to clone myself so I can watch my band play live in real time. As Kanye said “My greatest pain in life is that I’ll never be able to see myself perform live.”

5, Your idols gonna give you the instrument that they’re famous for,

Who is it? Joe Strummer

What Instrument? Voice

Why? Joe had the most bad ass accent / voice of all time.

The band have just come off tour with Inheaven, and are back on the road next week for a 40+ city tour
