ASH announce details of a brand new single Annabel, the second track to be lifted from the forthcoming album Islands, released 18th May through their newly cemented return to original home, Infectious Music.
The track comes ahead of their previously announced inclusion at the BBC’s Biggest Weekend Festival in Belfast – home to many ASH appearances from their first DIY shows in city centre bars to numerous shows at The Ulster Hall and The Limelight and the historic Referendum show at The Waterfront in 1998.
Following their return via the riotous Buzzkill earlier this year, Annabel sounds like a classic ASH single – soaring guitars enveloped in a delicious, warm , widescreen chorus – yet another addition to an already enviable catalogue – the unmistakeable sound of a band at (a return to) the peak of their powers. An open-hearted collection of songs drawn from frontman Tim Wheeler’s reflective lyrical axis dealing with friendship and betrayal, love and loss, an album which reaffirms the band’s status as one of the most idiosyncratic and singularly thrilling guitar bands on these islands.
