Hot off the back of triumphant sets at Reading and Leeds Festivals release their new single Suburbs
Suburbs is produced by Mickey Dale from Embrace; and mixed andmastered by the multi-Grammy award winning duo of Fernando Lodeiro [Paul McCartney, Vampire Weekend] and Joe LaPorta [David Bowie, Imagine Dragons]–fast-rising UK indie quartet
Marsicans have revealed the video for the single. The video was recorded entirely on singer James Newbigging’s smartphonein Toronto and New York on the band’s recent North American tour.
Speaking about the Suburbs video, James explains:“We shot this video ourselves when we were out in Canada and the USA earlier this year. The suburban shots are in Ithaca, New York and the city shots are in Toronto. We were having a great time looking around these beautiful places and thought we should probably make the most of our adventures out there. For the video itself, we wanted to try and recreate the disconnection between yourself and your surroundings, which the song refers to. We had a very basic outline and just filmed on the fly all week. It was great but we had no idea if what we had shot would actually work. Luckily, our friends at Sodium Films got involved for the edit and managed to pull it together exactly how we imagined it.”
Suburbs follows the recent single Pop-Ups [Sunny At The Weekend], a track that unsurprisingly picked up rave reviews including the SundayTimes Hottest Track; BBCRadio 1support from the likes of Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart and Abbie McCarthy – who made it her BBC Introducing Tip of the Week – and BBC 6Music; and reached #2 on the Hype MachineTop 10 Most Blogged Artists of the Week and support from Spotify – including NewMusic Friday in the UK and Japan – The Indie List, Summer Indie, Hot New Bands, Transistor andOne Week One Playlist.
After touring with Clean Cut Kid, Jaws and Hippo Campus, playing asold-out debut headline tour earlier this year including dates in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and the 800-capacity Leeds Church, and a jam-packed festival season that culminated in the band playing to huge crowds at the BBC Radio 1 stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals, Marsicans are now announced as support for Fickle Friends on their UK tour this autumn.
