New Music – ShadowParty – Reverse The Curse

in New Releases

The ShadowParty ain’t over, the After Party has just begun……..

ShadowParty, the band made up of the New Order pairing of Tom Chapman and Phil Cunningham and Josh Hager and Jeff Friedl of Devo, have made a considerable impression in the music world in the last 2 months. I’m certainly a fan, and now there’s a remix E.P for everyone to enjoy. And it’s called the After Party E.P.

Reverse The Curse gets the remix treatment, not only from Manchester music legends A Certain Ratio, but also from The Other Two. Or as you and I know them, Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert from fellow Manchester music legends, and the day job of Tom Chapman and Phil Cunningham, New Order.

And it is all you expect it to be from The Other Two, with a finger snapping, laid back dance beat that let the vocals of Denise Johnson, indie music singing royalty, really stand out more yet not ignoring the groundwork of the original version.

As well as the remix by The Other Two, Reverse The Curse gets the remixing from A Certain Ratio (as mentioned above), as well as Outernationale getting involved with their reworking. Present Tense completes the E.P with remixes from Stereotype and Beg Steal Or Borrow.

As regular visitors to Flick Of The Finger would have gathered by now, I’m very sold on ShadowParty and their collaboration. And so will you be with this E.P, sold enough to go and see them for yourself on their forthcoming tour. There ain’t no (After) Party like a ShadowParty.

The After Party E.P from ShadowParty is available now on the Mute label. And catch the band on tour on the following dates –

8th September – Festival No.6, Portmeirion, Wales
10th September – Brudenell Social Club, Leeds
12th September – Night & Day Cafe, Manchester
13th September – Birthdays, Stoke Newington, London
