If the four-piece were hoping for a trilogy of great singles then they have succeeded.
The song’s guitar work is a spiky, epic assault on the system as it thumps along relentlessly with a sense of freedom and joyousness.
The track was recorded at Faktory Studios by Si Jones of The Verve fame, and mixed by Tom Twemlowe.
It was always going to be fascinating to hear what Shader would come up with musically after their previous two singles, Broken Minds and Streets Tell Stories. If the sounds of Silver are anything to judge by, then future material is definitely something to be excited about.
The single isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel, but it does signal that the band are trying to generate a freshness in their sound. It holds its head up high, while setting the bar for the inevitable forthcoming album. Bring it on.
