“You ready Birmingham?”
COUNTERFEIT bought a new surge of energy to Birmingham’s o2 Academy3 with an intimate feeling gig – bringing along the dynamic Wargasm for support.
With an hour between doors opening and Wargasm entering the stage, the room filled up nicely – eagerly waiting for the much-anticipated band. Wargasm have managed to storm on to the music scene this year, with their nu-metal-esque tunes and energetic live shows. Wargasm are one to look out for, and definitely a band to catch live if you get the chance.
Wargasm had definitely riled up the crowd ready for COUNTERFEIT, as an excited buzz filled the room. It took absolutely no time for the band to begin bouncing around the stage, kicking in to the first song of the evening “Paralysed”. Encouraging the audience to move with them, COUNTERFEIT were ready to put on a mesmerising performance.
What was most notable about COUNTERFEIT was how tight-knit a band they were, completely on the same level as each other, looking like they were having the time of their lives. Front man Jamie Campbell Bower even took a moment to thank the audience, telling them that this was exactly what he needed, before continuing to jump around the stage manically.
For a moment, the set calmed down as the band proceeded to do a cover of Twenty One Pilot’s ‘Jumpsuit’, which they pulled off flawlessly. But this moment of calm didn’t last long, as the band kicked back in to a full powered set, each member making the evening a fun and enjoyable watch.
COUNTERFEIT really made a great impression, as their live show was full of spark and charisma. Definitely not a band to miss out on!
