Meadowlark have shared a new track from their forthcoming ‘Nocturnes EP’, which is due for release on March 10th via Believe Recordings (James Vincent McMorrow, Gavin James).

‘Satellite (Alt Version)’ launched this morning and is available to stream now on Soundcloud / Spotify.

Speaking about the track Kate McGill says ‘We’re very excited to share this acoustic rendition of Satellite with you. We love our electronic version so much, but there was something about stripping it back that made us fall in love with it all over again.”

The ’Nocturnes’ EP is a collection of string-laden late night reworks of previously-released Meadowlark singles, plus the previously released cover of the Sugababes hit ‘About You Now’.

These reworkings were recorded with a live string quartet to accompany Meadowlark’s own Kate McGill on grand piano & vocals and Dan Broadley on acoustic guitar. Ahead of the EP’s release, Meadowlark are currently supporting Amber Run on an extensive UK tour. Full listings below.

Speaking about the recording of ‘Nocturnes’, Dan Broadley shares: “We’ve always written our songs in a raw and honest way that focusses solely on the melodies and chords before adding any production to them. ‘Nocturnes’ was an opportunity for us to reimagine those early versions of our songs, in their naked and premature state, so brittle that they feel like they could snap at any moment. One of the meanings of the word ‘nocturne’ is “a short composition inspired by, or evocative of, the night”. This felt fitting since almost all of our songs were written and recorded during the darker hours of the day, when the world was asleep and there was nothing to distract us.”

Meadowlark are a Bristol based boy-girl duo. They released their debut EP in 2015 and a series of standalone singles throughout 2016, steadily gaining themselves a reputation for their captivating pop melodies and lush production. Signed to Believe Recordings, the band will release their debut album in 2017.
