Montreal singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Leif Vollebekk released ‘Twin Solitude’ today on Secret City Records.

The new record has received an abundance of early attention: lead single “Elegy” has been described as”devastatingly beautiful” by NPR Music and “lovely, soulful and spare” by Brooklyn Vegan and climbed at #14 on the Spotify UK Viral Top 50 week of release.

The Fader premiered the second track, “Into The Ether” and praised Vollebekk’s “passionate Broken Social Scene-adjacent melodies wrapped in a casual, jammy atmosphere.” The next day, “Into The Ether” was added to Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist in twelve countries and soared up the Viral 50 charts in the United States upon release.

The latest track “All Night Sedans” was premiered via Rolling Stone France and was “Song of the Day” on The Line Best Fit. Those three tracks alone have generated over 2 million streams worldwide before the release of the record.

Vollebekk wrote the ten-song ‘Twin Solitude’ while re-calibrating from a creatively taxing period on the road, a time where his own songs just didn’t feel right to him.

He began to find beauty in the everyday vignettes that made up his life at home and on the road: finding inspiration in a bike ride, a Moog synthesizer, a Nick Drake record. Most of the songs on ‘Twin Solitude’ were completed in one sitting, and before Leif knew it, his own music felt natural to him once again.

Leif’s international tour will kick off on Tuesday at NYC’s Mercury Lounge and UK dates will be with Gregory Alan Isakov starting in Brighton on 25th March, including London Islington Assembly Hall on 3rd April.
