URF are a five piece Manchester band that at the moment are flying under the radar (well my radar anyway), but this is all set to change with the release of their debut EP For The Ride on May 4th followed by a headline show at Night People in Manchester.

If you’re getting bored with constant post punk sound that so many bands have adopted then maybe URF are the band for you. D

escribed variously as “neo psychedelic shoegaze and glorious techniclor prog rock” URF have produced a spacey collection of tracks with a distinctive sound far removed from a lot of what you can currently hear in the Manchester scene.

The lead track For The Ride starts with a guitar reminiscent of Vinny Reilly and then the powerful theatrical vocals of Abbi Parcell take the song to a higher spacey level before a rocking instrumental outro with Abbi wailing over the top , slows to a gentle finish. This is pretty different to a lot of the music around at the moment and it will be a welcome change to hear it played live at Night People. The other two tracks on the EP Night Driving and Say You Don’t Mind

The five band members share a deep passion for music with an experimental edge and people are beginning to sit up and notice them. Their EP release and headline date will hopefully be the catalyst for greater things.

EP For The Ride is out on May 4th and URF headline at Night People on June 8th
