The Hara have shared the video for their gripping new single ‘Die In The City’

The illuminated visuals accompany the track which was released last Friday (22nd October). The song has so far seen widespread support flood in from Spotify and Apple Music, as well as many other streaming and media sites, and there has been an outpouring love on the band’s social media feeds too ever since the track dropped.

Palpable from the second you press play, ‘Die In The City’ lyrically focuses on social media and the pressures that immediately form from having a presence online. A storming juggernaut, it brims with infectious power rock guitar licks and a probing electronic soundscape.

Speaking about the track, frontman Josh Taylor says, “This song is all centred around the negative effects social media can have on you and from our perspective as a band we felt so stuck in a routine of living our career through our phones, constantly posting and dealing with the effects of reaching millions of people for the first time (good and bad) over lockdown and having no live shows to look forward, all that just gave us this overwhelming feeling of doubt, anger & frustration all of which we touch on in detail throughout this song.”

It has also been a successful summer for the Manchester band, who have appeared at festivals up and down the country. Back in June they played the Download Festival Pilot before opening the main stage at this year’s Reading and Leeds. The Hara also played triumphant shows at TRNSMT in Glasgow, Tramlines in Sheffield, Neighbourhood Weekender in Warrington and Slam Dunk in the north and south.

Explaining the band’s mantra, Josh elaborates, “We want to show everyone that despite it all, despite what the statistics say, despite what people say or any of that social media acceptance bullsh*t, it really doesn’t matter. Thousands of people will reject you for being different but there are 10 times over that amount who will accept you and who are feeling just like you. If people can become a part of such a glorious resistance through our music, then that’s our mission”

‘Die In The City’ is available to stream now.
