For the love of heavy, loud guitar music what is this sweet slice of explosive purgative rock? Its Welsh duo James and the Cold Gun once again whipping up a noise frenzy with their latest release, Plug Me In.
The single is out now via Gallows’ label Venn Records.
A rock and roll is so intense with Plug Me In that guitarist James Joseph actually got a nosebleed tracking the vocals for the song, he says of the track: “Plug Me In is a love letter to volume, it’s for the times where you feel completely lost and rely on music to make you – feel something.”
“The past year has been difficult for us all” explains Joseph “I think nearly everyone can relate to feelings of helplessness or feeling like groundhog day—getting into a garage and turning our amps up as loud as possible has been such a cathartic release for us.”
The track not only puts the guitar front and centre but showcases the instrument with its own solo at the end. Unlike the average guitar solo this one was played by 8 different people—all of the band members, producer Adrian Bushby, his assistant engineer, photographer Feisal Khazragi, and their drummer’s girlfriend Chloe.
“We thought it’d be funny to just let everyone have a go at ripping a solo and making some weird noises even if they’ve never played guitar before,” shares Joseph. “With our music, I really want to encourage more people to give playing guitar a go, you don’t have to be technically proficient, you just have to have fun with it!”
Lucky for us James and the Cold Gun are not only technically proficient but creativly thrilling and are serving us that sweet sweet guitar noise that demands replay after replay.
James and the Cold Gun will be supporting Sale on tour this October – details and ticket links can be found – here.
