The Tour Will Mark 20 Years Of ‘Love Is Here’

The band will play the album in its entirety for the tour

Following the sell out of their homecoming show at Warrington’s Parr Hall, Starsailor have announced they will tour the UK this December to mark 20 years since they released their critically acclaimed album, ‘Love Is Here’, which they will perform in its entirety throughout the tour. The band first burst onto the music scene in February 2001, and earned the title of “Britain’s Best New Band” when they released their first single, ‘Fever’. Their second single ‘Good Souls’ managed a top 20 spot, and their third single ‘Alcoholic’ broke into the top ten! When they released their debut album ‘Love Is Here’ in October 2001, it peaked at number 2 in the UK Albums Chart.

The band was originally formed at Wigan and Leigh Music college by James Walsh, James Stelfox and Ben Byrne, the trio were later joined by Barry Westhead on keyboards, which finalised the bands sound. They performed in London for the first time in April 2000, and the NME wrote “One live encounter was enough to convince many sceptics that here was a band who were genuinely special, blessed with a singer whose voice thrummed like an emotional telegraph wire, that swerved the pitfalls of indie melancholia and were clearly in love with rock ‘n’ roll and all its possibilities.”

Starsailor continued with their success through their second album Silence Is Easy, which featured production from John Leckie (The Stone Roses, Radiohead), Danton Supple (Elbow, Doves) and Phil Spector. Silence Is Easy sold over 54,000 copies within a week and reaching number 2 in the UK album charts. It also includes three of the band’s biggest hits ‘Silence Is Easy’, ‘Born Again’ and ‘Four To The Floor’ – the title track remaining their most successful single to date. The group relocated to Los Angeles to record their third album, On the Outside and All The Plans which both received favourable reviews and acclaim across the board.
