Returning to the O2 Academy, to support Electric 6.
The O2 Academy in Liverpool has featured many bands, many returning, many never to be seen again.
However, The Boston Shakers, were returning, and returning to a riotous welcome. Their live performances are quickly becoming a ‘Must See ‘ event. They were supporting Electric 6 and to be quite honest, it should have been the other way around!
Renowned for their eclectic mix of characters and musical styles, they blow people away with, as they describe themselves …an Infusion of heavy beats, mixed with fuzzy guitars, shaken with raps and garnished with a dash of white noise.
All I know is, I have seen them several times now and they have yet to disappoint. After a sold out show at the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool, last week, all they could do was build on another solid performance.
Alex was once again climbing into the crowd, so everyone could join in with the singing, while Jordan and William on guitars and Nathan on bass, were a sweet counterpoint to Bean and Lucas’s beats. Seriously, you gotta be there for the full effect!
Blasting out Body, Mind and Soul followed by Black Magic, had the place bouncing. Long Hard Night, Clubfoot and the quality, Best Things in Life For Free followed. Finishing with Plastic Bag and the crowd accompanying, Keep Off That Grass ended a super set. Their path to stardom is irrevocable.
The Boston Shakers are in the studio over the coming months, recording new songs and old favourites for their forthcoming album. I wait with baited breath and money at the ready!
Their final gig of the year will be supporting Space at the East Village Arts Club, Liverpool on December 17th. Another quality line up, guaranteed to be another quality show. Beg, steal or borrow money to be there, I will be!
